French protests turn violent, resulting in 1,800 arrests

Large protests erupted across France over rising living costs and declining public services, drawing students, trade unionists, and other activists. The demonstrations turned violent in some cities, with clashes, fires, and looting reported, marking some of the worst riots France has seen in decades. Police made at least 1,800 arrests. President Macron addressed the nation but rejected his interior minister's resignation despite the minister saying police lost control during the unrest.
