About Slantwise
Most news shows you a moment. Slantwise shows you the whole story.
What we do
Slantwise aggregates journalism from over 1,200 sources across the political and editorial spectrum. We pull their feeds, group coverage of the same story, and lay it out as a single timeline, so you can follow how a story started, how it developed, and who covered each turn.
We don't write articles. We don't editorialize. We don't decide which stories matter. That's your job. Ours is to make sure you can see everything.
How a story works
Every story on Slantwise is a single shared timeline. When a story takes a new turn, that development becomes a chapter, dated by when coverage of it actually began. Under each chapter we show verbatim headlines from left, lean-left, center, lean-right, and right outlets that covered that moment.
We never write or summarize headlines. We select and attribute them. When a side has no headline under a development, that absence is the finding: it didn't cover that turn of the story.
Big stories rarely stay in one place. An investigation becomes a hearing; a hearing becomes a bill. When one story grows out of another, we link them into a single arc you can follow from where it began to where it stands now, so today's headline never arrives without its history.
What we are not
Who runs it
Slantwise is independent. It is not owned by a media company, a political organization, or an investor group, and it has no newsroom. The source ratings come from published, independent research organizations, and the full methodology is public, so you can check our work instead of taking our word for it. Questions or corrections: support@slantwise.news.
How we're funded
Slantwise is funded by readers. Everything core is free, with no ads and no tracking-based advertising; readers who want to keep it running can become a supporter and get a few extras. We do not accept funding from news organisations, political parties, or ideological foundations. The rating methodology is published openly and is never for sale.
