Bolsonaro Leads Lula in Brazil Runoff After First Round Surprise
Brazil held the first round of its presidential election, with Senator Flavio Bolsonaro receiving a surprisingly strong result that gave him a narrow lead. Since no candidate won outright, the election will proceed to a runoff on October 25th between Bolsonaro and incumbent President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Bolsonaro is carrying momentum from his first-round performance into the second round.
