Vance says 870K people suspected of COVID-era US fraud barred from federal loans

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the federal government distributed emergency loans through two programs: the Paycheck Protection Program and the Economic Injury Disaster Loan program. U.S. authorities conducted an enforcement effort called the "Heartland fraud surge" to investigate suspected fraud involving these loans. According to Vice President Vance, approximately 870,000 people suspected of committing fraud have been barred from receiving federal loans as a result.
