US winter is likely to be wetter and warmer, forecasters say. If you want more snow, look south
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has forecast that the U.S. winter will be wetter and warmer than normal. The agency attributes this partly to El Niño, a weather pattern that is expected to bring more moisture and higher temperatures to the country. While this may help ease droughts in the western U.S., forecasters note the season is unlikely to produce significantly more snow despite the added moisture.
