Tennessee unable to carry out the execution by lethal injection of Christa Gail Pike, witnesses say
Christa Pike killed a fellow student in 1995 and has been on Tennessee's death row. She was scheduled to be executed by lethal injection, which would have made her the first woman executed in Tennessee in over 200 years. The governor declined to stop the execution, but a court temporarily halted it. When officials attempted to carry out the execution, they were unable to do so.
