Trump signs Greenland security pact
President Trump announced a security agreement with Denmark and Greenland that gives the United States enhanced military control in the Arctic territory. The deal resolves tensions that arose after Trump previously threatened to seize Greenland. Under the agreement, the US will reopen a Cold War-era military base and establish new military presence in Greenland while keeping non-NATO countries out. Experts say the final signed agreement makes relatively modest changes to the existing 1951 treaty governing US military operations there.
