Despite military might, Saudi struggles to crush the Houthis
The Houthis, an Iran-backed militant group in Yemen, have launched attacks on Saudi Arabia using missiles and drones, hitting sites in the capital Riyadh and near its airport. Despite having superior military resources and weapons, Saudi Arabia has been unable to defeat the Houthis over more than a decade of conflict. The Houthis have also seized Red Sea coastline and are now pushing to control strategic highlands in Yemen. The G7 has called on the Houthis to stop their strikes and on Iran to halt arming them.
