This Day in History: October 6 Sees Beginning of Yom Kippur War and Opening of the Moulin Rouge

On October 6, 1973, Egypt and Syria launched coordinated attacks against Israeli forces in the Sinai Peninsula and the Golan Heights, beginning the conflict widely known as the Yom Kippur War or October War. Both territories had been captured by Israel in the 1967 war.
