Nvidia's interest in Hugging Face is a hedge against a future dominated by OpenAI and Anthropic

Nvidia, a major chip company, agreed to buy Hugging Face, an open-source AI platform, for $12.9 billion. The purchase would give Nvidia control of a platform developers use as an alternative to its chips, while also protecting Nvidia in case its customers start making their own chips instead.
