Moderna, Merck breakthrough could usher in cancer vaccines

Two drug companies, Moderna and Merck, tested a personalized cancer vaccine combined with an existing immunotherapy drug on melanoma patients and reported successful results in a large trial. The vaccine is designed to prevent the cancer from returning. Doctors believe this approach could eventually be used against other types of cancer.
