Two drugs used for abortion, mifepristone and a similar medication, have also been shown to treat non-abortion conditions like uterine fibroids and endometriosis. Restrictions on these drugs for abortion purposes are making it harder for researchers and doctors to use them for these other medical treatments. Researchers are now exploring additional uses for these medications beyond what has already been established.
