UN says over 5,600 people were killed in Haiti last year as gangs rampage
More than 5,600 people were killed in Haiti in 2024, a rise of more than 20 percent from 2023, the U.N. said in January 2025, as a Kenya-led, U.N.-backed mission struggled to contain gang violence. The U.N. also counted 2,200 injured and nearly 1,500 kidnapped.
