U.S. and Iran escalate strikes: Oil tankers destroyed, base attacked
The United States military destroyed three Iranian oil tankers in the Persian Gulf after Iran launched ballistic missiles at two U.S. Navy vessels. Iran responded by attacking oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, including U.S.-linked ships. The two countries have continued exchanging attacks on shipping, with Iran recently striking 10 ships after the U.S. sank five Iranian oil tankers in what both sides described as the largest wave of such attacks since the conflict began.
