Death of 87-year-old Maricarmen is reenergizing Spain's protests to stop evictions
Maria del Carmen Abascal, an 87-year-old woman in Madrid, became the public face of Spain's eviction crisis when she was evicted from her home. Her case drew enough attention to spark a government crisis in Spain. Abascal has now died, as announced by the Madrid Tenants' Union.
