Florida abortion amendment fails, 6-week ban to stay in place
Florida voted in November 2024 on Amendment 4, which would have put the right to abortion in the state constitution and needed 60 percent of the vote to pass. It fell short after opposition from Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, becoming the first abortion rights measure to fail since Roe's reversal and leaving the state's six-week ban in place.
