DC police officer dies after gun he was trying to retrieve from storm drain went off, officials say
Police say a Washington, D.C., officer has died after being shot when a gun he was trying to trying recover from a storm drain accidently fired. The officer, Wayne David, was a member of the Metropolitan Police Department for more than 25 years.
