CIA releases dozens of presidential daily briefs on bin Laden and al-Qaida before Sept. 11
On the 25th anniversary of September 11, the CIA released dozens of presidential daily briefing documents that had been classified. These documents show what intelligence officials knew about Osama bin Laden and al-Qaida in the period before the 2001 attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people. The declassified briefs provide a record of the government's knowledge of these threats prior to the hijackings.
