Gavin Sheets' pinch-hit homer propels dominant Padres past Cubs 4-1 for 2-game Wild Card sweep
The San Diego Padres defeated the Chicago Cubs 4-1 in a playoff series called the Wild Card Series. This was a rematch of a series from the previous October, and the Padres won this time around. The victory was helped by a home run from Padres player Gavin Sheets and strong pitching from San Diego's relief pitchers. The Padres have now advanced to the next round of the playoffs, called the NLDS.
