Biggest-ever Roman wall mosaic, featuring mysterious port city, revealed
Roman authorities have opened to the public the largest known fresco and mosaic complex from ancient Rome, dating to the first century A.D. The artworks were discovered roughly three decades ago and have undergone a 14-year restoration process. The mosaic depicts a mysterious port city and was accompanied by a colorful fresco painted on a 2,000-year-old wall. These works are now on public display for the first time since their discovery.
