Afghan woman deported in first use of US Alien Terrorist Removal Court
A special court created in 1996 to handle cases involving foreign nationals and terrorism was used for the first time to deport an Afghan woman named Nazira Haji Zada. The Alien Terrorist Removal Court had existed for decades without ever being invoked in any case. Zada's deportation marks the first time the court has actually been applied since its creation.
