The March 2025 leak of a Signal group chat in which President Trump's national security team discussed strikes on Yemen's Houthis after The Atlantic's editor in chief was added to it: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's detailed attack plans in the chat, National Security Adviser Mike Waltz's acceptance of responsibility, his removal and nomination as UN ambassador, a second chat Hegseth used, a judge's order to preserve the messages, and the Pentagon inspector general's review, which found in December 2025 that Hegseth's use of Signal put U.S. personnel at risk.
